I'm having a party and want to serve heavy appetizers. Any recipe suggestions?Recipes for fairly simply yet heavy appetizers for a party??
Meatballs can be bought already made and you can put them in the crockpot with grape jelly and chili sauce.Recipes for fairly simply yet heavy appetizers for a party??
Get some Cocktail rye bread spread thinly some Cream cheese and top with a slice of fresh cucumber
get some fresh mushrooms wash them and take the stems out cook a spicy sausage (like jimmy deans) add cream cheese and worcestershire sauce cook them all together then put the mixture inside the mushrooms and bake for about 15minutes really delicious
Knorr has a spinach veggie dip. I make that then hollow out a large round loaf of bread and use that for the bowl. Use the bread that you took out and cut up into pieces for dipping. You can also have some veggies with it as well.
chicken wings, bite sized sausages, deviled eggs, mini kabobs, really just about anything you can put on a toothpick is good.
Pizza
if you mean ';heavy'; as in filling your belly... i would recommend anything high in protein. like meatballs, or a bean dip. Good Luck
we all like this recipe.
2 cans chile w/o beans
1 pound jimmy dean sausage
1 pound mexican velveeta
brown sausage, add to chile, add velveeta(smaller chunks at a time)
serve w/tortilla chips
Take a baguette loaf and cut some crostini (slices cut on an angle). Drizzle with olive oil and toss in a 350 degree oven for about 10-12 minutes.
Spread a small amount of ricotta cheese on the bread and top with a folded-over slice of procuitto and half of a fresh fig.
First is bread dip. Really filling. The recipe is on the back of the box of Knorrs vegetable soup mix. It's a piece of cake.
Another is chicken skewers. I prefer to buy mine already in cutlets or skewered. Just season with salt and pepper. Then have a few different types of dips for them. Ranch dressing with a diced chipotle pepper in it; peanut butter, sesame oil, a touch of vinegar and a pinch of hot pepper; hot bbq sauce.
If you have a crock pot throw a box of frozen meatballs in there with a can of cream of mushroom soup, and a 1/2 can full of milk. Let this simmer until the meatballs are done. Right before you are about to serve it mix in a container of sourcream, salt pepper and fresh parsley. This can be doubled or tripled easily.
Also, this reuben dip is delish. Serve with mini bread slices or rye crackers. It's so good. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Reuben-Dip/鈥?/a> I tried to double this once, and it didn't work very well. Just make 2 pans.
For a vegetarian option, in a glass pie dish spread out 2 boxes of cream cheese and top with 1 large jar of salsa. Put it in the oven on 400 for about 10 minutes. It just needs to be warm. You don't want it to bubble or the cheese will curdle. I know it sounds weird, but it's so good with tortilla chips.
Of course deviled eggs. For a spin, add a few tbsp. of diced capers to the yolk mixture.
Fondue is always a easy hit. Use cheese or chocolate no one can stop munching. A nice start to dinner with the choices, you can add to dip will determine how full they get use meat, cheese and bread. If you like but don't leave out the veggie's and fruit cutting it up to 2 days early if pressed for time. The foundue is just a matter of turning the pot on low and leaving it go. Fondue always looks like you went the extra mile.
