Why do some recipe's say to use a metal spoon, rather than simply say 'use a spoon' Especially in cake mixes?

Does it really make a difference? Why do some recipe's say to use a metal spoon, rather than simply say 'use a spoon' Especially in cake mixes?
It depends what you're using the spoon for. If it's just for measuring, of course it doesn't make a difference. If it's used for mixing, stirring, etc., then it may. Metal spoons do not have the ';sticking'; type properties that wood and plastic do. When the batter, mixture, etc. is mixed, sometimes the powdery ingredients can stick to the spoon in clumps, which prevents the batter from having the proper conistency. Why do some recipe's say to use a metal spoon, rather than simply say 'use a spoon' Especially in cake mixes?
Yes, it does make a difference. you always use a metal spoon when making cake mixes so you don't loose all the air that has been beaten into it.
